Whatcom Region Transportation Plan Being Updated Through 2050, and Your Input Is Welcome Now
Whatcom Transport 2050: Public Input Period Now Open
The Whatcom Council of Governments (WCOG) has started work on the next five-year update to the region's long-range transportation plan: Whatcom Transport 2050. The plan covers everything from I-5 corridors to bike and pedestrian routes, regional bus service, and new infrastructure needs across the county.
WCOG Director Hugh Conroy says this update takes about one year to complete. Early public input shapes which projects get prioritized.
If you have thoughts on road safety, transit access, or how Whatcom County should handle growth over the next two decades, now is a good time to share them. A virtual open house is available at wcog.org. The source announcement came via the City of Lynden.

Ferndale Montessori Students Build a Living History Museum, One Costume at a Time
Ferndale Upper Elementary: The Timeline of Everything
On Wednesday, first through third grade Montessori students at Ferndale Upper Elementary hosted something called The Timeline of Everything: A Living Natural History Museum. Each student chose a topic from the school's Five Great Lessons curriculum, wrote a research paper, and built a full museum display complete with a didactic poster, an artifact, and yes, a costume.
If that sounds like an impressive amount of work for a third grader, that is because it is. Read more about the project here.

Whatcom County Government marked National Cheese Day (June 4) by reminding everyone that this region has genuine artisan cheesemaking roots. Local producers including Twin Sisters Family Farm are the kind of small operations worth a visit when you're in the area.
Supporting local dairy means keeping those farms viable for the long haul. More on Whatcom County's homegrown cheesemakers here.
