Biz News: Fairhaven Biz Break-in Today, and updates on nearby break-ins

We’ve had a string of several local shop break-ins in Fairhaven.

Seems like there is some pattern or wave of burglaries targeted some beloved spots in Fairhaven. Here’s what I’ve captured so far:

• Whimsey: HAPPENED TODAY, this popular boutique reported a break-in that occurred. Details are still emerging as the police investigate. I tried to call, but couldn’t reach the owner.

• Serendipity: On December 14, burglars broke into this shop around 4 a.m., stealing jewelry, the cash register, and the till. Read more.

• Fairhaven Runners & Walkers: Later the same day, this neighboring business reported the theft of a pair of shoes in another break-in. More details here.

  • I called and the odd part is that they broke into the office, but not into the retail store. So all the stolen items were personal items of the owner. I wasn’t able to get in touch with the owner.

• Wellman & Zuck: Between December 20 and December 23, the office of this general contracting company was also targeted. Read about the string of burglaries here.

• Paws for a Beer: According to Rylan Schoen who is the owner, this happened on Thanksgiving Morning. There was no impact to business hours, and the break-in was cash stolen. There’s been no update from the police since then. To help support when a business gets broken into, Ryan says he would love for people to “can come show up and support.”

The Bellingham Police Department is actively investigating these incidents and encourages anyone with information to come forward. If you have tips, you can contact them directly or leave an anonymous tip via their website.
