Everson Goshen Rd Closed Daytime Through Friday

If Everson Goshen Rd is part of your commute, keep this on your radar. The road remains closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through Friday, April 10, while crews repair the shoulder about a half mile north of East Smith Rd.

All traffic is affected during those hours, including emergency vehicles and school buses. Posted signage will direct you to alternate routes. The closure started Monday and runs through the end of the work week. Full details from Whatcom County Public Works here.

Sheriff Tanksley Completes National Leadership Training at Quantico

Whatcom County Sheriff Donnell "Tank" Tanksley completed the 124th session of the National Sheriffs' Institute Leadership Development Course in Quantico, Virginia, March 23-26. He was one of 22 sheriffs selected nationally for the intensive program.

"It was an honor to represent Whatcom County at such a prestigious training," Tanksley said. The no-cost program is run through the NSI and the U.S. Department of Justice. Full announcement here.

WWU to Host "Severance" Creator Dan Erickson on May 15.

Western Washington University will host alumnus and Emmy Award-winning creator Dan Erickson on May 15. Erickson wrote "Severance" on Apple TV+, and he is a genuine WWU grad. The event is open to the public. Event details at WWU News.

Bellingham Library Is Lending Backpacks with Free Discover Passes This Spring

Library card holders can borrow a backpack with a free Discover Pass, binoculars, three field guides, and a state park map. The Discover Pass covers millions of acres of Washington State parks and public lands, including Larrabee State Park and Birch Bay State Park.

Backpacks check out for three weeks, first-come, first-served. Search "Check Out Washington Discover Pass" in the catalog to place a hold. More at BellinghamPublicLibrary.org.
