Happy Thursday, Bellingham. It is April 2nd, and if you made it through April Fools' Day without any unpleasant surprises, consider that a win. Rain is tapering off by afternoon, and Saturday is looking legitimately sunny. Here is what is on the radar today.

Bellingham Farmers Market Opens for the 2026 Season This Saturday

After a winter break, the Bellingham Farmers Market is back at Depot Market Square (1100 Railroad Ave) starting this Saturday, April 4. Season hours are 10 am to 3 pm, every Saturday through December.

Expect fresh produce, local makers, food vendors, and the familiar buzz of people who are very happy spring finally showed up. It is a good morning to bring cash and no agenda. Full vendor information and schedule at bellinghamfarmers.org.

Whatcom Museum: Current Exhibitions Open Through the Weekend

The Whatcom Museum has rotating exhibits open Thursday through Sunday across the Lightcatcher Building and Old City Hall. The Lightcatcher's natural light galleries are worth the visit even on a gray April afternoon. If you have not been in a while, the current rotation is worth checking out. Don’t forget it’s FREE first Friday tomorrow!

WWU Events Open to the Public This Week

Western Washington University hosts performances, lectures, and art openings throughout the semester that are open to the Bellingham community, often free or low-cost. Theater productions, music recitals, and gallery nights happen regularly and tend to fly under the radar for people not on campus.

Check the WWU events calendar before your week fills up. There is usually something worth the trip to Red Square.

Mt. Baker Ski Area: Spring Conditions in Effect

Spring skiing is in full swing at Mt. Baker Ski Area. Late-season conditions can be surprisingly good on clear days, and the area typically stays open into April depending on snowpack. If you have been waiting for a less-crowded window, this is often it.
