Ferndale Police Seek Help Identifying Suspects in Star Park Vehicle Prowls

Heads up, Ferndale! The Ferndale Police Department is asking for the community’s help in identifying a vehicle and individuals involved in a series of car break-ins at Star Park on March 5, 2025.

If you saw anything suspicious or have any helpful details, please reach out to Officer Lloyd at [email protected] or call (360) 384-3390.

And here’s your friendly reminder: Don’t make it easy for thieves! Always lock your car and remove any valuables before walking away. Stay safe, everyone!

Fairhaven Finally Gets Some Peace and Quiet!

After nearly 20 years (and who knows how many startled coffee spills), Fairhaven is officially a Quiet Zone! That means fewer blaring train horns and more blissful, uninterrupted moments by the water.

What’s Changed?

Trains used to honk at every crossing—like clockwork, day and night. But now, thanks to snazzy new safety upgrades (think flashing signals, automatic gates, and pedestrian exit gates), the horns are mostly a thing of the past. They’ll still sound in emergencies, but your eardrums will thank you for the break.

More Quiet to Come

Fairhaven is just the first stop. Work is already chugging along to hush six crossings along the waterfront, so stay tuned for even more serene vibes in the future!

Enjoy the Silence (Well, Mostly)

Sure, you might hear the occasional horn when needed, but compared to before, it’s like switching from a rock concert to a whisper. So go on, sip that latte, soak in the quiet, and enjoy this long-overdue peace and quiet.

Noticed the difference? Let us know!

Huge congratulations to the Lynden High girls basketball team for their perfect 28-0 season and back-to-back 2A State Championship title! 🏀🎉 The Lions have proven once again that they’re an unstoppable force. What a way to make history—Lynden pride is shining bright! Go Lions!

Surprise Visitor: Giant Pacific Octopus Spotted in Bellingham Bay! 🐙

Bellingham Bay served up a jaw-dropping surprise last week when a local couple stumbled upon a giant Pacific octopus chilling in a tidepool—just steps from shore!

Captured on video by Micah Moeller, the stunning encounter quickly went viral, racking up over 20 million views online. That’s right, folks—our local sea life is officially internet famous!

A Rare Daytime Sighting

Giant Pacific octopuses are typically nocturnal, preferring the deep, dark waters to broad daylight. According to the Seattle Aquarium, these fascinating creatures can grow up to 16 feet across and boast 200 suckers per arm—making this close-up encounter even more special.

Micah, a lifelong Bellingham resident, told FOX 13, “I’ve lived here my whole life and never seen anything like it.”

Honestly, same, Micah. Same.

Keep your eyes peeled, Bellingham—nature’s full of surprises! Have you ever had a wild wildlife encounter around town? Let us know!
