☘️ Gallowglass Brings Celtic Fire to MBT – March 15! ☘️

Alright, Bellingham—get ready to tap your toes, raise a glass, and maybe even shed a single poetic tear because Gallowglass is coming to Mount Baker Theatre on Saturday, March 15th!

This isn’t your average St. Paddy’s celebration (no green beer required). Gallowglass is the real deal—one of the Pacific Northwest’s most celebrated Celtic folk groups. With soul-stirring vocals, dazzling flute melodies, and foot-stomping rhythms that practically demand a jig, this is a night of music you do not want to miss.

🌟 Irish Music Magazine calls their sound “an inspired approach to the tradition.”
🌟 Their 2024 album, Dear Ruin, is getting international radio play.
🌟 They’ve shared the stage with legends like Dervish, Peter Rowan, and Jolie Holland.

The band:
🎶 Jan Peters – vocals, harmonica (and general musical wizardry)
🎶 Mishon Kirkland – vocals, Irish flute (expect goosebumps)
🎶 Zach Bauman – Irish bouzouki (string magic incoming)
🎶 David Pender Lofgren – bodhrán (drumming that’ll wake your Celtic soul)

They’re steeped in tradition but always looking ahead—so consider this your official invitation to gather ‘round the fire for an unforgettable night of music.

Bring your friends, bring your best jig, and we’ll see you there—no pinching required.

Tabitha Kinsey: The Woman Who Brought History to Life 🎨

Sure, you’ve heard of Darius Kinsey, the famous photographer who captured the towering trees, fearless loggers, and rumbling railroads of the Pacific Northwest. But behind every great photographer? An even greater photo-finishing, print-making, hand-tinting powerhouse—aka his wife, Tabitha Kinsey.

While Darius was out in the woods snapping jaw-dropping photos, Tabitha was back in the darkroom, doing the real magic—developing negatives, perfecting prints, and adding the final artistic flourishes that made their images legendary.

🎨 Her secret skill? Hand tinting. Using the finest watercolors, she turned black-and-white photos into vivid works of art, adding soft hues, rich details, and a touch of romance. The result? Stunning, one-of-a-kind masterpieces that doubled in value and became collector’s treasures.

But she wasn’t just about pretty pictures. Tabitha also handled handwritten captions, careful processing, and all the behind-the-scenes work that made the Kinsey name iconic. And yet, when asked about her contributions, she humbly said, “I only did my duty. Any good wife would have done as much.” (Oh, Tabitha, give yourself some credit! 🙌)

Today, we know the truth—Tabitha Kinsey wasn’t just a silent partner. She was a pioneer, an artist, and the unsung hero of Pacific Northwest photography. So here’s to the woman behind the lens—who made history just as much as she preserved it.

Now, let’s give her a round of applause!

Blewett Pass is Back Open! (For Now…)

If you’ve got weekend road trip plans that involve US 97 over Blewett Pass, good news—it’s officially back open in both directions! Avalanche control crews did their thing at MP 176, clearing out snow and mudslides, so you’re free to cruise.

BUT… (because there’s always a but with winter roads) more precipitation is in the forecast, which means conditions could change fast. Before you head out, do yourself a favor and check the latest updates: WSDOT real-time map.

Stay safe, drive smart, and may your windshield wipers be ever in your favor! 🚗❄️
